Biography: 

Stephanie Lumsden (she/her) is a member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies from Portland State University in 2011 and her Master’s degree in Native American Studies from the University of California, Davis in 2014. She earned her second Master’s degree in Gender Studies at UCLA in 2018 and her Ph.D.from the same department in 2023. Her research examines the relationship between Indigenous dispossession and the development of the carceral settler state in northwestern California. Stephanie is currently a University of California Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow in the History department at UC Santa Cruz.
